Why Waxed Canvas?
Waxed Canvas is a quality, highly durable, and water-resistant material. This makes it perfect for items that are frequently used and moved around either in your home or out in the wide world.
All of my Waxed Canvas is hand-waxed by me using a blend of beeswax and paraffin.
The benefits of using this material in my bags and wallets are numerous.
- Waxed Canvas is water resistant, making it easy to keep clean.
- A simple wipe with a damp cloth takes care of most blemishes. See [Waxed Canvas Care & Cleaning]
- It’s durable and long lasting.
- Cotton canvas has been used for centuries and is known for its durability and strength, adding wax into the material increases durability and ability to withstand the elements.
- In the Outdoors and Bushcraft communities Waxed Canvas is frequently used and rivals leather in its durability.
- It has a beautiful patina when worn and wrinkled that just gets better with use.
- Most of the canvas that I use is sourced from local thrift stores. The aim is to reduce waste, decrease demand for new fabric, and to give life to fabrics that someone once loved.
- An excellent alternative to leather and vinyl, and MUCH better for the environment.
Waxed Cotton Canvas does require occasional maintenance to retain its water resistant qualities. You can purchase a Wax Bar in my store, and refer to the WAXED CANVAS CARE INSTRUCTIONS for further information
